Description
This replacement monitor contains two 12.1″ colour TFT LCD displays that replace the old 12″ CRTs fitted in the Hurco Ultimax 3 and Hurco Winmax controllers. It comes with a matching front panel, including 8 function keys. The unit is mechanically compatible with the original.
Although it is technically possible to replace a single, original CRT monitor with one LCD, and operate the machine with one new LCD and an old CRT, experience has taught us that it is much smarter to replace both CRTs at the same time. We found that if a client replaced just one CRT, within a few months of using the new LCD they wanted to replace the other CRT.
For this reason, we have developed a unit with twin LCDs installed on a new front panel. In the long term, it improves the overall cost of upgrading your machine, maximises the machine uptime, and looks great with the new front panel, new buttons, and two new, crisp, bright LCD screens.
As an added benefit, the twin LCDs operate from a 85-240 VAC supply, which takes the stress off the 12/24 Volt DC supplies that powered the old CRTs and still power the machine controller boards. This potentially improves the overall machine reliability because the DC supplies now only have to power the machine control boards.
Once you have upgraded to the dual LCDs, if, in the future, one of the LCDs fails, it can easily be repaired or replaced without needing to replace the whole, dual unit.
The image below shows the old Hurco Ultimax 3 CRT on the left, and the new replacement LCD panel on the right. The red circles the mounting points for the front panel. The purple circles show the video cable connections – here the video connection shown is a standard 15 pin HD D-sub connector. We also provide a 15 pin HD D-sub to 10 pin header video adapter cable for each monitor, if needed.

Please note: The old CRTs in the Ultimax 3 operate from 12 VDC (see the brown and white wires going to the CRT). Our dual LCD monitor requires a single 85-240 VAC supply. It is therefore necessary to find an appropriate 85-240 VAC supply connection within your machine (usually at the main input circuit breaker) or externally. The existing old DC supply within the Ultimax 3 machine was found to be too unreliable for use with modern LCD monitors, so we use a 85-240 VAC design for greater stability and reliability.
